PV Power Set VIII

The solar power set "PV Power VIII" offers aprofessional stand-alone 230V AC hybrid power supply. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, in particular for remote homes and offices. You may connect AC consumers with a continuous load of up to 5000W and a short-term peak load of up to 15kW. The excellent overload capability as well as the true sine wave of the inverter guarantee a safe and trouble-free operation of all consumers such as lighting, TV, video/DVD, radio, water pump, power drill, coffee maschine, refridgerator etc.

In addition to the solar modules, the public grid or a fuel generator can be connected to the system as power respectively charging source. The entire system may thus be able to maintain an uninterruptible power supply, even during months with low insolation. A built-in change-over contact allows an automatic start and stop of the grid or generator power source.

Features at a glance!

  • composition of high quality branded components
  • easy installation and operation / plug'n'play performance
  • 230V AC true sine 5000W power output (15kW peak power)
  • support of 230V AC power / charging sources
  • powerful 48V / 40A solar charge regulator with LC-display
  • 8x 175 watt peak monocrystalline solar module
  • 8x 200 amp-hours maintenance-free and cycle-proof AGM battery (gel optional)
  • entirely pre-fabricated cabling for solar module and battery

The set consists of 1x inverter/battery charger Studer HPC 6000 with 48V system voltage, 1x solar charge regulator Steca Tarom 440 - 48, 8x 175 watt peak polycrystalline solar module Schott Poly 175 incl. pitched roof mounting system, 8x 200 amp-hour maintenance-free solar battery Banner SBV 12-200, 1x battery circuit breaker with NH fuses as well as the entire pre-fabricated cabling for the solar modules and batteries.

Due to the powerful solar charge regulator of 40A (short circuit current) charging current at 48V, the system may at all times be upgraded by additional solar modules. A total of 16 solar modules type Schott Poly 175 (175Wp) with an overall output of 2800Wp may be installed. Likewise, the storage capacity may even be upgraded by additional batteries of the same make.

Functional Principle

The solar set "PV Power VIII" consists of four main components: solar charge regulator, inverter/charger, solar modules and batteries.

The charge regulators take care that the energy produced by the solar modules or by the AC power source is stored in the batteries. They protect the battery bank against harmful overload and, in combination with an intelligent charging algorithm, they guarantee a long lifetime of the batteries.

The inverter transforms the energy produced by the solar modules or the AC power sources, which is stored in the battery bank, into 230V AC power. It also prevents the batteries from beeing deep discharged by disconnecting consumer loads in case of a low battery level.

As the solar energy is buffered in the battery, power is available at all times, even at night or during cloudy weather.

The battery circuit breaker provides additional safety during installation and operation of the power system.

Each single component of the power set matches up the other ones perfectly. The tailored solar mounting system as well as the pre-fabricated cabling with plug socket reduce installation work to a minimum. In addition, the fused circuit breaker ensures safe installation and operation.

A subsequent upgrading of the set is possible at any time without having to replace any of the existing components!

Energy Available

The actual energy made available by the "PV Power Set VIII" depends on the geographic location of the installation site. In Central Europe, a constant solar power supply throughout the year is not possible, because of the poor insolation during winter months. According to the application it is recommended to reduce the consumption during these months or to use a conventional power generator to fill the gap. In Southern Europe, the seasonal variations are less distinct and, depending on the site of installation, the energy requirement may be covered entirely by solar power.

Below, please find some examples of the daily energy that may be available:

Average daily available energy (Central Europe)

4100Wh (ø 4.5kWh/m²/day)
1830Wh (ø 2kWh/m²/day)
735Wh (ø 0.8kWh/m²/day)

Average daily available energy (Southern Europe)

5500Wh (ø 6kWh/m²/day)
3650Wh (ø 4kWh/m²/day)
2300Wh (ø 2.5kWh/m²/day)
Summer (Apr.-Sept.) Winter (Oct.-Mar.) Month with lowest insolation (Dec.)

In case the energy production exceeds the consumption (e.g. weekend application), excess solar power will be stored in the battery. Once the battery is fully charged the following amount of energy is available:

Available energy at fully charged battery*

9800Wh
* at C=20 hours and 50% depth of discharge

In any case, before buying this system, check carefully if your requirements are met, in particular if the power set matches the projected consumer profile. Please, also refer to our FAQs for further information or contact us directly.
