The solar power set Xtender Power II is a professional photovoltaic 230V AC off-grid system. It offers a reliable and quiet power supply by means of solar energy in areas without access to the public grid, e.g. for garden houses, holiday residences or remote homes. By selecting high-performance components, the system may be easily extended and customized at any time to suit your needs.
Unlike other providers we deliver our system in an installation ready design with easy to follow assembly instructions. All electronic components including AC fuse box and twin sockets are assembled and pre-wired on a wall board. For the solar array a suitable roof mounting system is included, optional for ground or flat roof installation. Prefabricated cabling enables a simple and fail-safe connection of the modules and batteries. There are no special tools required! You can easily assemble and install the Xtender Power Set by your own.
The systems is designed for 230V AC applications with a continuous load of up to 3.5kW, such as Lighting, TV, video / DVD, radio, pump, drilling machine, coffee maker or refrigerator. The excellent overload capability as well as the true sine wave of the inverter ensures a safe and trouble-free operation of the consumers.
In addition to the solar modules, the public grid or a fuel generator can be connected to the system as power respectively charging source. The entire system may thus be able to maintain an uninterruptible power supply, even during months with low insolation. A built-in change-over contact allows an automatic start and stop of the grid or generator power source.

Overall, you can connect up to 16 modules of the type Suntech STP190S-24/Ad+ (190Wp) with a total capacity of 3040Wp. Likewise, the storage capacity may even be upgraded by additional batteries of the same type.
Functional Principle
The Xtender Power Set consists of four main components, solar charge controller, inverter/charger, solar modules and batteries.
The solar charge controller stores the energy in the batteries, which is produced by the solar modules or by the AC power source. It protects the battery bank from overcharging and guarantees, together with an intelligent charging algorithm, a long lifetime of the batteries.
The inverter transforms the solar energy, which is stored in the battery bank, into 230V AC power. It also prevents the batteries from being deep discharged by disconnecting consumer loads in case of a low battery level. Optionally, you can connect a fuel generator or the public grid to the system as an additional energy source.
Thanks to the additional shunt, the battery monitor is able to determine the exact state of charge of the battery. The status of the battery is displayed on the remote control of the inverter.
A battery circuit breaker with NH fuses adds safety during installation and operation of the system.
Each single component of the power set matches up the other ones perfectly. The tailored solar mounting system as well as the pre-fabricated cabling with plug connection reduces installation work to a minimum.
A subsequent upgrading of the set is possible at any time without replacing the existing components!
Performance Overview
When selecting a suitable off-grid power system, you must ensure that both the power consumption (in watts [W]), defined by the connection power of all simultaneously driven consumers and the energy demand (in watt hours [Wh]), defined by the operating time of the consumers can be covered.
The yield of the solar generator depends on the location and current season. Therefore a general indication of the amount of energy that can be covered by the Xtender Power Set is not possible. In general, during summer time good yields are achieved, whereas in the winter months far less energy is produced, especially in the northern regions. This makes it impossible to maintain a constant solar power supply throughout the year in Central Europe. We recommended to reduce the consumption during the winter months or to use a conventional power generator as additional energy source. In the more southern Mediterranean region, the seasonal variations are less distinct. Depending on the site of installation, the energy requirement may be covered entirely by solar power.
The following is a summary of the performance data of the Xtender Power Set II:

possible extension |
* 3-phase extension up to 31.5kW power output possible
** possible extension with the amount of solar charge controllers included by default
*** parallel connection of max. 3 battery blocks should not be exceeded
For example, the Xtender Power Set II is ideal for providing energy to a holiday residence in Southern Europe. With a power output of 3.5 kW the system ensures the operation of all necessary AC consumers. The volume of usable energy that is made available by the 760Wp solar generator amounts up to 3 kWh per day. By upgrading the PV generator to 2.96kWp, you can cover an energy demand of up to 12kWh per day. The standard battery capacity is 11kWh and assures a system autonomy between 2 and 3 days, depending on the consumed energy. You can extend the battery to a capacity of up to 33kWh (690Ah/48V) with standard GEL 12V block batteries or more with OPzS 2V batteries. We recommend to use a diesel generator of min. 4 kW in order to make up for seasonal variations and to serve as a backup power supply.
The following is a summary of the daily amount of energy which can be covered by the Xtender Power Set II:
Average daily available energy (Central Europe)
2000 Wh (ø 4.5kWh/m²/day)
1000 Wh (ø 2kWh/m²/day)
400 Wh (ø 0.8kWh/m²/day)
Average daily available energy (Southern Europe)
2900 Wh (ø 6kWh/m²/day)
2000 Wh (ø 4kWh/m²/day)
1200 Wh (ø 2.5kWh/m²/day)
