Product Description
Morningstar's TriStar Controller is a three-function controller that provides reliable solar battery charging, load control or diversion regulation. The controller operates in one of these modes at a time and two or more controllers may be used to provide multiple functions.
In addition to the numerous operation modes, the TriStar offers great performance. It can handle a max. current of 60A at 12, 24 or 48V. Thus, the connection of photovoltaic generators up to 4kWp is possible.
The TriStar is easy to use and offers a comprehensive electronic protection against reverse polarity, short circuit, overcurrent, high temperature and overvoltage. The rugged housing, and the generously sized heat sink allow uninterrupted operation at full ratings, even at high ambient temperatures.
The setup of the TriStar is easy to understand and done via DIP switches inside the unit. The TriStar can also be configured with a computer via the integrated RS-232 interface. Also data acquisition and remote monitoring is possible via this interface.
Optionally, an LCD for the TriStar is also available. Thus, the operating data from one or more devices can be read directly.
In its function as charge controller, the TriStar uses a 4-stage charging algorithm with pulse-width modulation (PWM). This increases battery capacity and life.
By connecting a battery voltage sensor and optional battery temperature sensor, the control accuracy of the TriStar can be further improved.

Digital Display TS-M-2 / TS-RM-2 for TriStar
The optional LCD display informs the user about the major system and operational data. Faults are displayed immediately and enable rapid troubleshooting. Up to 5 languages can be selected.
The dispaly is available in two versions. The display TS-M-2 is attached directly to the TriStar. The remote display TS-RM-2 can be installed separated from the controller using the supplied 30m cable.

Remote Temperature Sensor Morningstar RTS
The temperature sensor enables precise adjustment of the charging voltage by measuring the battery temperature. It is recommended to use the RTS when the ambient temperature varies more than 5 °C over the year.
The temperature sensor is supplied with 10m cable.
