The solar power set "PV Power DC" is a top quality and low-cost starter kit for remote electrical power supply. DC appliances with a current of up to 20A may be operated with this set. These appliances - such as lighting, TV, video, radio, fans, cooling boxes, alarm systems etc. - are mainly sold in shops for camping and leisure time or automobile accessory equipment.

Features at a glance!

The set consists of 1x charge regulator Steca PRS2020, 1x 50 watt peak polycrystalline solar module SolarWorld SW50 incl. pitched roof mounting system, 1x 55 amp-hour maintenance-free solar battery Banner SBG 12-55 as well as the entire pre-fabricated cabling for the solar module and battery.

Due to the powerful solar charge regulator of 20A (short circuit current) charging current, the system may at all times be upgraded by means of additional modules. A total of 6 solar modules type SolarWorld SW50 (50Wp) with an overall output of 300Wp may be installed. Likewise, the storage capacity may even be upgraded by additional batteries of the same make.

Functional Principle

The solar set "PV Power DC" consists of three main components: charge regulator, solar module and battery.

The charge regulator takes care that the energy produced by the solar module is stored in the battery and made available via the 12V DC power output. It protects the battery against harmful overload and deep discharge. In combination with an intelligent 4-stage charging algorithm, the charge regulator guarantees a long lifetime of the battery.

As the energy produced is buffered in the battery, power is available all times, even at night or during cloudy weather.

Each single component of the power set matches up the other ones perfectly. The tailored mounting system for the solar module as well as the pre-fabricated cabling with plug socket reduces installation work to a minimum.

A subsequent upgrading of the set is possible at any time without having to replace any of the existing components!

Energy Available

The actual energy made available by the "PV Power Set DC" depends on the geographic location of the installation site. In Central Europe, a constant solar power supply throughout the year is not possible, because of the poor insolation during winter months. Therefore it is recommended to reduce the consumption during these months. In Southern Europe, the seasonal variations are less distinct and, depending on the site of installation, the energy requirement may be covered entirely by solar power.

Solar Charge Regulator Steca PR 2020

The Steca PR charge controller has large display which is easy to understand. It informs the user about all operating modes with the aid of symbols. The state of charge is represented visually in the form of a tank display. Data such as voltage, current and state of charge can also be displayed digitally as figures on the display.
